How Brexit has impacted biocides regulations in the UK
From 31st December 2020, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is officially no longer part of the European Union. With this comes new rules and regulations across all industries including the EU scheme for regulating biocides.
Prior to Brexit, the UK was governed by the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (EU BPR) however, following the split from the EU, biocide regulation has since become part of British law, allowing procedures to carry on as normal in Britain under the GB Biocidal Products Regulation (GB BPR).
The good news is that most regulations do not change but there are differences between EU BPR and GB BPR. All active substances will need to be reviewed under the GB review programme and also require a full application to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Equally, product authorisations will need to submit an application for Great Britain national authorisation.
FuelCare has recently received confirmation that the Mixture of (EINECS 247-500-7) (EINECS 220-239-6) is an active Substance-Product Type combination that is fully supported by IFF Microbial Control under GB-BPR, you can read this here.
This combination is an active ingredient in FuelClear™ MB15 fuel biocide making FuelCare one of very few approved sellers across the UK and Europe.
